The SCOV Astronomy Club operates by a set of by-laws that are managed and maintained by its membership board. As is only appropriate, the current by-laws are available for review of the membership.

The Astronomy Board of Directors is recommending a change to Article 5, Section 3, Term of Office of the club by-laws.  The Board of Directors recommends that a person may be on the Board of Directors for a maximum of four (4) consecutive years.  This is an increase of one (1) year from the current by-laws.  The change will be voted on by the general membership at the May17th meeting.  The specific wording will be”

“Term of Office:  all elected officers and board members at-large, shall hold office for a term of one (1) year and may be elected to a board position for not more than four (4) consecutive terms.  After four (4) consecutive terms the elected officer or board member at-large must retire from the board for a minimum of one year before election to additional board positions.  No member shall hold more than one office at a time.”
