Monthly Star Parties!

Star parties are a fun and educational component of amateur astronomy clubs like ours. During star parties several club members with telescopes give attendees the opportunity to view the moon, planets and deep space objects such as nebula, star clusters and distant galaxies.

In addition, the club often utilizes professional astronomers from the Tucson community to lead our events. These include instruction in identifying constellations, stars and other celestial objects of interest. Star parties are a good place to begin learning the night sky or enhance their current knowledge.

SCOV Astronomy club typically puts on several events each year. Club members are notified by email of the dates, times, and locations of the events. Most Star Parties are held within the confines of Sun City Oro Valley, although notifications of other star gazing opportunities outside our community may be made from time to time.

Postponements due to weather can happen up to two hours prior to a star party and notifications of such a postponement are made by email.

Watch for upcoming star parties and come join the fun!

Note: All Star parties generally begin set-up around 6:00PM, with stargazing activities starting at 7:00PM.
